What makes this battery special?
Compatibility
Which EnergonX types it can be installed in: every 12V EnergonX NOMAD, KARAVAN and EXPLORER type.
Voltage-level compatibility: all properly configured 12V EnergonX systems.
Actual installability is primarily determined by the battery’s physical dimensions. This battery measures 330 × 172 × 216 mm. The descriptions of EnergonX PowerBox BASE units include the internal dimensions of each unit, so final installability must always be checked by comparing these dimensions.
Important charger selection rule: the self-heating function requires a minimum charging current of 15A. Therefore, for this battery and for EnergonX configurations equipped with this battery, a charger smaller than 15A must not be selected.
Starting function – important information
The battery has a dual-purpose design and is capable of delivering high short-term starting current. According to the manufacturer’s information, the starting function may be used for boating applications, boats and outboard motors with proper voltage regulation.
The battery’s stated starting values are: 1500A hot cranking current (HCA) at 25°C, 1300A marine cranking current (MCA) at 0°C, 1200A cold cranking current (CCA) at -10°C. These values indicate the battery’s short-term starting current capability, but they do not mean that the battery can be used as a general-purpose starting battery for land vehicles.
Important: the manufacturer does not allow this battery to be used as a starting battery in camper vans / RVs, off-road vehicles, ATVs, quads, motorcycles or small utility vehicles. Warranty is not provided by the manufacturer for such use.
Therefore, this battery is not recommended for starting cars, camper vans / RVs, off-road vehicles, ATVs, quads, motorcycles, tractors or other land vehicles. According to the manufacturer’s information, such use is not supported and may void the warranty.
In EnergonX units, the battery’s starting capability may only be communicated when the specific use case is related to boating / outboard motor applications, and the starting current is not routed through the internal EnergonX circuits.
Starting use inside an EnergonX unit
EnergonX PowerBox systems are custom-built units. BASE models do not include, by default, an external built-in connector to which jump-start cables can be directly connected.
In boating or properly voltage-regulated outboard motor starting use, starting current must not be routed through the internal connectors, fuses, switches or wiring of the EnergonX unit.
If a specific EnergonX configuration does not have a separate factory starter connector rated for starting current, starting-current connection may only be implemented with a proper technical design, at the battery terminals, with the internal EnergonX circuits disconnected.
In this case, the main switch of the EnergonX unit must be switched off, or the main cable supplying the unit’s internal circuits must be disconnected from the battery terminals. The goal is to prevent starting current from passing through the internal circuits of the EnergonX unit.
- One starting attempt should not exceed 3 seconds.
- After an unsuccessful attempt, wait approximately 15 seconds before trying again.
- Below 11.5V battery voltage, engine starting is no longer reliable.
- Connectors, cables and terminals must be rated for the starting current.
- The external charging system / alternator must be properly regulated; the manufacturer’s documentation highlights a normal output voltage around 14.4V.
- If a specific EnergonX type has a built-in starter connector, this is stated separately on that product’s datasheet.
