EnergonX UPS Tech 12 BASE

SKU: {EX1400-EXP-12}

A fully assembled, battery-free 12 V EnergonX UPS base unit with an EXPLORER frame, an external pure sine wave UPS module, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets.

The external UPS module provides up to 1000 W continuous 230 V output, two sockets, automatic UPS transfer, AVR voltage regulation, fixed-phase operation and adjustable 5–30 A battery charging.

Which batteries can be used: Compatible with any 12 V AGM battery that physically fits inside the EXPLORER frame and whose manufacturer-specified charging requirements can be matched by the adjustable charging parameters of the UPS module. For a LiFePO₄ battery, physical fit and a suitable charging profile are not enough: the battery BMS must also provide sufficient continuous and short-term discharge current for the DC-side demand of the external UPS module and the connected 230 V loads.
BASE version: the unit does not include a battery. It cannot be used as an operational backup-power system until a suitable battery has been installed and the charging, warning and cut-off parameters have been configured correctly.

EnergonX UPS Tech 12 BASE

The EnergonX UPS Tech 12 BASE is a fully assembled, battery-free 12 V EnergonX UPS base unit. It combines the mobile EXPLORER frame, the UPS EXT Tech 1000 external pure sine wave UPS module, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets in one system prepared for battery installation.

After a suitable battery has been installed, the system powers the connected loads and charges the battery during mains operation, then automatically switches to battery operation in the event of a power failure or significant mains-voltage deviation.

What does the BASE version mean?

The BASE version includes the external UPS module, the EXPLORER frame, mounting points and the connection and installation components required for the system, but it does not include a battery.

Not a complete backup-power system without a battery: the unit becomes an operational EnergonX UPS system only after a suitable 12 V AGM or nominal 12.8 V LiFePO₄ battery has been installed, polarity and fusing have been checked, and the charging and cut-off parameters have been configured correctly.

Main benefits

Battery-independent BASE designAn AGM or LiFePO₄ battery can be selected according to the intended use, required runtime and available budget.
1000 W pure sine wave 230 V outputWith a suitable battery, it can support sensitive electronics, controllers, circulation pumps and smaller critical loads.
Automatic UPS transferDuring a mains failure, the unit typically switches to battery operation in approximately 4 ms.
Adjustable 5–30 A chargingCharging current can be matched to battery capacity and manufacturer specifications.
AVR mains-voltage regulationCorrects moderate mains-voltage deviations without switching to battery operation.
Fixed-phase operationWith correct mains wiring, it can provide backup power for phase-sensitive boilers and controllers.
Modular EXPLORER frameThe mobile frame and eight integrated M8 mounting points provide stable installation and future expansion options.

Which batteries can be used?

Compatibility principle: Compatible with any 12 V AGM battery that physically fits inside the EXPLORER frame and whose manufacturer-specified charging requirements can be matched by the adjustable charging parameters of the UPS module. For a LiFePO₄ battery, physical fit and a suitable charging profile are not enough: the battery BMS must also provide sufficient continuous and short-term discharge current for the DC-side demand of the external UPS module and the connected 230 V loads.
12 V AGM batteryIt must physically fit inside the EXPLORER frame, the terminals and connections must remain accessible, and the manufacturer’s charging requirements must match the UPS settings.
Nominal 12.8 V LiFePO₄ batteryIn addition to physical fit, a suitable LiFePO₄ charging profile and sufficient BMS discharge capability for the intended load are required.
LiFePO₄ BMS: battery capacity alone is not sufficient. The BMS continuous and short-term discharge ratings must support the full DC-side current demand of the external UPS, including the starting peaks of connected loads.
Charging current: the selectable 5–30 A maximum charging current must always be matched to the value permitted by the battery manufacturer. A higher available setting does not mean that every battery can be charged at 30 A.
LiFePO₄ charging in cold conditions: below 0 °C, only a battery with low-temperature charging protection or an appropriate self-heating function may be charged. This protection must not be bypassed.

UPS function and 230 V power supply

The TECHTRON ZA-TECH-1000-PLUS external UPS module provides up to 1000 W of continuous pure sine wave 230 V output through two sockets. Line-Interactive operation, fast automatic transfer and four-step AVR support continuous operation of the connected loads.

The integrated three-stage charger can be set to a maximum current of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 A. Charging, float, warning and cut-off voltages must be configured according to the chemistry and manufacturer specifications of the installed battery.

Power and battery: the 1000 W 230 V output can be used safely only with a battery capable of supplying the necessary DC current and the required starting peaks. A LiFePO₄ battery with a lower BMS rating may limit the usable 230 V output power.

EXPLORER frame, mounting and connections

The external UPS module is integrated into one mobile system on the EXPLORER frame. The frame provides internal space prepared for battery installation, while the eight integrated M8 mounting points support stable mechanical fixing and future accessories.

The QS Custom Connectors Set 3 and the dedicated UPS connector set form part of the BASE system’s connection architecture. The accessible position of the external UPS module facilitates operation, ventilation, inspection and professional maintenance.

Modular design: a suitable battery can be selected later, replaced or changed to another capacity, provided that the new battery’s dimensions, chemistry, BMS, charging parameters and connections meet the system requirements.

Recommended applications

  • With a separately selected battery, backup power for gas boilers, circulation pumps and heating controllers.
  • Smaller critical loads in institutional, industrial or agricultural applications.
  • Routers, modems, network equipment, camera systems and communication devices.
  • Computers, controllers, monitoring systems and smaller technical electronic equipment.
  • Lighting, gate control, security equipment and other loads requiring up to 1000 W continuous power.
  • Applications where pure sine wave 230 V output, AVR or phase-correct supply is important.
Runtime is determined by the selected battery: actual backup time depends on battery capacity, chemistry, permitted depth of discharge, BMS, temperature and condition, as well as UPS losses and load power.

Safety and installation warning

Do not start without a battery: according to the manufacturer’s instructions, the external UPS module must not be started without a connected battery, as this may cause damage.
230 V mains voltage: installation, phase-correct wiring and use with a boiler or building-services system must be checked by a qualified electrician.
Stand-alone output: loads may be connected directly to the two 230 V sockets. The output must not be connected to or backfeed the building’s existing electrical installation.
High-current 12 V system: the battery, cabling, fuses, connectors and, for LiFePO₄ batteries, the BMS rating must be sized for expected continuous and starting current.
Ventilation: the UPS fan and ventilation openings must remain unobstructed. At least 15 cm of free space must be provided around the module.
Moisture and location: no IP rating is specified for the complete system. Use only in a dry, dust-free and well-ventilated area, protected from rain, water, corrosive gases, fuel and flammable materials.
Load limit: even with a suitable battery, the combined continuous 230 V load must not exceed 1000 W. Starting peak power must be considered separately for every load.
Repair and modification: do not open, modify or attempt to repair the UPS module or high-current connections.
