EnergonX UPS SOHO 12 BASE

SKU: {EX1412-EXP-12}

A fully assembled, battery-free 12 V EnergonX UPS base unit with an EXPLORER frame, SPS SOHO SH1000 sine wave inverter, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets.

The SH1000 is rated at 1000 VA / 800 W. In battery mode it provides 220 V AC ±10%, 50 Hz ±1 Hz and a sine wave output, with a 6 ms transfer time during a mains failure.

Which batteries can be used: Designed primarily for a 12 V sealed AGM, GEL or other cyclic VRLA battery that physically fits inside the EXPLORER frame and whose manufacturer permits a charging voltage of 13.8 V ±0.3 V and a selectable charging current of 10 A or 20 A. A LiFePO₄ battery may be used only if its manufacturer explicitly approves this charging voltage and charging method, and if the BMS continuous and short-term discharge ratings safely cover the DC-side current demand of the inverter.
BASE version: the unit does not include a battery. It cannot operate as a backup-power system until a suitable battery has been installed, the correct 10 A or 20 A charging current has been selected, and polarity and fusing have been checked.

EnergonX UPS SOHO 12 BASE

The EnergonX UPS SOHO 12 BASE is a fully assembled, battery-free 12 V EnergonX UPS base unit. It combines the mobile EXPLORER frame, the SPS SOHO SH1000 sine wave inverter, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets in one system prepared for battery installation.

After a suitable battery has been installed, it powers the connected load and charges the battery during mains operation, then transfers to battery operation in 6 ms during a mains failure.

What does the BASE version mean?

The BASE version includes the SPS SOHO SH1000 unit, EXPLORER frame, mounting points and the connection and installation components required for the system, but it does not include a battery.

Not a complete backup-power system without a battery: the unit becomes an operational EnergonX UPS system only after a suitable 12 V battery has been installed, polarity and fusing have been checked, and the correct 10 A or 20 A charging current has been selected.

Which batteries can be used?

Compatibility principle: Designed primarily for a 12 V sealed AGM, GEL or other cyclic VRLA battery that physically fits inside the EXPLORER frame and whose manufacturer permits a charging voltage of 13.8 V ±0.3 V and a selectable charging current of 10 A or 20 A. A LiFePO₄ battery may be used only if its manufacturer explicitly approves this charging voltage and charging method, and if the BMS continuous and short-term discharge ratings safely cover the DC-side current demand of the inverter.
12 V AGM / GEL / VRLAThe battery must physically fit inside the EXPLORER frame and support 13.8 V ±0.3 V charging and the selected 10 A or 20 A charging current.
LiFePO₄ only after separate verificationOnly a nominal 12.8 V LiFePO₄ battery whose manufacturer explicitly permits this charging method and whose BMS is suitably rated may be used.
LiFePO₄ BMS: high current flows on the 12 V side at the full 800 W output. With engineering margin, a BMS supporting at least 100 A continuous discharge is recommended; short-term starting capability must be checked separately for the connected load.
Charging voltage: the 13.8 V ±0.3 V charging voltage is consistent with the typical float-charging range of sealed AGM/GEL/VRLA batteries. It must not automatically be assumed suitable for LiFePO₄ batteries, so battery-manufacturer approval is required.
Charging current: the 10 A or 20 A charging current must always be matched to the value permitted by the battery manufacturer. The 20 A setting is not suitable for every smaller-capacity battery.

UPS function and 230 V power supply

The SPS SOHO SH1000 is rated at 1000 VA / 800 W. In battery mode it provides 220 V AC ±10%, 50 Hz ±1 Hz and a sine wave output. During normal mains operation, output frequency and waveform follow the incoming mains supply.

The unit provides both UPS and inverter operating modes. The mains input voltage range is 120–300 V AC in inverter mode and 145–285 V AC in UPS mode. Transfer time from mains to battery operation is 6 ms.

Protection functions: overload, short-circuit and overtemperature protection, battery circuit breaker and front-panel LEDs for mains, charging, battery and fault status.
Power and battery: the 800 W output can be used safely only with a battery capable of supplying the necessary continuous DC current and the starting peaks of connected loads.

EXPLORER frame, mounting and connections

The SPS SOHO SH1000 unit is integrated into one mobile system on the EXPLORER frame. The frame provides internal space prepared for battery installation, while the eight integrated M8 mounting points support stable mechanical fixing and future accessories.

The QS Custom Connectors Set 3 and dedicated UPS connector set form part of the BASE system’s connection architecture. The accessible position of the external inverter facilitates operation, ventilation, inspection and professional maintenance.

Modular design: a suitable battery can be selected or replaced later, provided that its dimensions, chemistry, charging requirements, discharge capability and connections meet the system requirements.

Recommended applications

  • With a separately selected battery, backup power for gas boilers, circulation pumps and heating controllers.
  • Smaller critical loads in institutional, industrial or agricultural applications.
  • Routers, modems, network equipment, camera systems and communication devices.
  • Computers, controllers, monitoring systems and smaller technical electronic equipment.
  • Lighting, gate control, security equipment and other loads requiring up to 800 W continuous power.
Runtime is determined by the selected battery: actual backup time depends on battery capacity, chemistry, permitted depth of discharge, BMS, temperature and condition, as well as inverter losses and load power.

Safety and installation warning

Do not start without a battery: an external battery is required for correct inverter operation. Voltage, polarity and connection tightness must be checked before installation and commissioning.
230 V mains voltage: system installation and use with building-services equipment must be checked by a qualified electrician. Opening the enclosure creates an electric-shock hazard.
Stand-alone output: the load must be connected directly to the inverter output. The output must not be connected to or backfeed the building’s existing electrical installation.
High-current 12 V system: the battery, cabling, fuses, connectors and, for LiFePO₄ batteries, the BMS must be sized for expected continuous and starting current.
Ventilation: use indoors in a dry, dust-free and well-ventilated location. The fan and ventilation openings must remain unobstructed, and the unit must not come into contact with liquids.
Protective earthing: the protective-earth connection must be installed correctly.
Load limit: even with a suitable battery, the combined continuous 230 V load must not exceed 800 W. Starting peak power must be considered separately for every load.
Not for life-safety applications: not suitable for direct life-support medical equipment, lifting equipment, traffic-control systems, aviation systems or other safety-critical applications.
Repair and modification: do not open, modify or attempt to repair the inverter or high-current connections.
