A fully assembled 12 V EnergonX UPS system with an EXPLORER frame, SPS SOHO SH1000 sine wave inverter and a 200 Ah Green Cell AGM VRLA battery. The system stores 2.4 kWh of nominal battery energy and provides up to 800 W continuous 230 V output power.

In battery mode it provides 220 V AC ±10%, 50 Hz ±1 Hz and a sine wave output. Transfer time during a mains failure is 6 ms. Charging current can be selected between 10 A and 20 A.

Fully assembled system: EXPLORER frame, SPS SOHO SH1000 inverter, Green Cell 12V 200Ah AGM VRLA battery, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets.
Optimised for UPS/standby operation: the inverter’s 13.8 V ±0.3 V charging voltage matches the Green Cell battery’s 13.5–13.8 V standby range. The configuration does not provide the 14.5–14.9 V cyclic charging voltage specified by the battery manufacturer, so it is intended primarily for standby UPS operation.

The EnergonX UPS SOHO 12 [A010]-1 is a fully assembled 12 V EnergonX UPS system with battery. It combines the mobile EXPLORER frame, the SPS SOHO SH1000 sine wave inverter, a 200 Ah Green Cell AGM VRLA battery, eight integrated M8 mounting points and the required EnergonX connector sets in one operational unit.

The system stores 2400 Wh, or 2.4 kWh, of nominal battery energy. During mains operation it powers the connected load and charges the battery; during a mains failure it transfers to battery operation in 6 ms.

Green Cell 12 V 200 Ah AGM VRLA battery

The installed Green Cell AGM12V200AH-J is a sealed, maintenance-free VRLA AGM battery. The electrolyte is retained in glass-fibre separators, so no fluid top-up is required, and the manufacturer specifies it for both standby and cyclic operation.

⚠ High short-circuit current

2700 A manufacturer-rated short-circuit current: accidental shorting of the battery terminals can cause severe burns, electric arcing, fire and melted connections. Correct fusing, touch protection and insulated tools are essential.

Charging match and intended operating mode

The Green Cell battery’s standby charging voltage is 13.5–13.8 V, while the SPS SOHO SH1000 charging voltage is 13.8 V ±0.3 V. Because the ranges overlap, this combination is primarily suitable for standby UPS and buffer operation.

For cyclic charging, Green Cell specifies 14.5–14.9 V. The SH1000 built-in charger does not provide this voltage, so the system should not be regarded as an optimal frequently deep-cycled AGM solution. For regular deep-discharge use, a separate charging method providing the manufacturer-specified cyclic voltage may be required.

UPS function and 230 V power supply

The SPS SOHO SH1000 is rated at 1000 VA / 800 W. In battery mode it provides 220 V AC ±10%, 50 Hz ±1 Hz and a sine wave output. During normal mains operation, output frequency and waveform follow the incoming mains supply.

The unit provides both UPS and inverter modes. The mains input voltage range is 120–300 V AC in inverter mode and 145–285 V AC in UPS mode. Transfer time from mains to battery operation is 6 ms.

Protection functions: overload, short-circuit and overtemperature protection, battery circuit breaker and front-panel LEDs for mains, charging, battery and fault status.

Runtime example – modern boiler and circulation pump

The following illustrative calculation uses a modern condensing boiler with 113 W maximum electrical consumption and a high-efficiency circulation pump with 40 W maximum consumption, for a combined continuous load of 153 W.

Example result: at 50% depth of discharge and an assumed 80% inverter efficiency, the system can continuously power a 113 W boiler and a circulation pump consuming up to 40 W for approximately 6.3 hours.
Actual runtime may differ: real AGM capacity depends on discharge current, temperature, age and condition. Deeper discharge may provide longer one-time runtime but can accelerate battery wear. Partial-load and intermittent boiler/pump operation may increase actual runtime.

EXPLORER frame, mounting and connections

The 54 kg battery and SPS SOHO SH1000 unit are integrated into one mobile system on the EXPLORER frame. Eight integrated M8 mounting points provide stable mechanical fixing and future expansion options.

The QS Custom Connectors Set 3 and dedicated UPS connector set form part of the finished system’s connection architecture. The accessible position of the external inverter facilitates operation, ventilation, inspection and professional maintenance.

High total weight: the calculated combined weight of the main components is approximately 79.2 kg. The system should preferably be moved on its wheeled frame; manual lifting may require several people or suitable lifting equipment.

Loads with high starting current: motors, pumps, fans and transformer-based equipment may draw several times their rated power during start-up. Starting peak demand must be checked in addition to the 800 W continuous-power limit.

Safety and installation warning

230 V mains voltage: system installation and use with building-services equipment must be checked by a qualified electrician. Opening the enclosure creates an electric-shock hazard.
Stand-alone output: the load must be connected directly to the inverter output. The output must not be connected to or backfeed the building’s existing electrical installation.
High-current 12 V system: the 200 Ah AGM battery can deliver extremely high fault current. Fusing, cables, connectors and mechanical protection must be designed accordingly.
Ventilation: use indoors in a dry, dust-free and well-ventilated location. The inverter fan and ventilation openings must remain unobstructed.
Protective earthing: the inverter protective-earth connection must be installed correctly.
Load limit: the combined continuous 230 V load must not exceed 800 W. Starting peak power must be considered separately for every load.
Battery handling: never short the terminals. Use insulated tools and appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not use a damaged, deformed or leaking battery.
Not for life-safety applications: not suitable for direct life-support medical equipment, lifting equipment, traffic-control systems, aviation systems or other safety-critical applications.
Repair and modification: do not open, modify or attempt to repair the inverter, battery or high-current connections.
