KARAVAN 12.8 V 165 Ah LiFePO₄ Self-heating Bluetooth 2112 Wh 40 A charger with 0 V activation

EnergonX PowerBox KARAVAN [A018]-1

KARAVAN is the well-equipped and expandable 12 V model in the EnergonX PowerBox family. This fully assembled configuration includes a LiTime 12 V 165 Ah self-heating Bluetooth LiFePO₄ battery, an EnergonX 14.6 V / 40 A / 0 V LiFePO₄ mains charger, an expanded 12 V connection layout and factory-installed M8 mounting points.

It provides an organised 12 V power supply with a larger energy reserve and scope for later expansion, suitable for longer off-grid stays, camping, fishing, boating and mobile field use.

Key advantages of this configuration

Larger energy reserve

The nominal energy of the built-in battery is 2112 Wh, equivalent to 2.112 kWh. The energy actually available also depends on the load, temperature, BMS operation and system losses.

Self-heating and Bluetooth

The LiTime battery features automatic self-heating, Bluetooth monitoring, OTA support and a 150 A smart BMS.

KARAVAN expandability

Two automotive sockets, two USB-C PD outputs, the 50 A and 120 A Anderson connectors and ten M8 mounting points provide an organised base for external modules and accessories.

How to interpret the weight

Approximately 22.6 kg is the weight of the finished PowerBox unit: the KARAVAN BASE plus the built-in battery. The separately supplied mains charger adds to this weight, so 22.6 kg must not be used as the total shipping weight of the package.

Battery and charging

In this configuration, the built-in battery and included charger are matched components.

LiTime 12 V 165 Ah self-heating Bluetooth LiFePO₄

The battery provides 2112 Wh nominal energy, a 150 A smart BMS, Bluetooth monitoring, OTA support and automatic self-heating.

According to the manufacturer, self-heating may activate when cell temperature is between −20 °C and +5 °C, then warm the cells to approximately +10 °C before charging begins.

EnergonX 14.6 V / 40 A / 0 V LiFePO₄ charger

The included charger operates from a 230 V AC supply, with a 14.6 V charge termination voltage and a maximum charging current of 40 A. Its output uses a red 50 A Anderson connector.

The output lead is an approximately 124 cm long 10 AWG silicone cable.

The charger uses a 0 V BMS activation or pre-charge stage, followed by constant-current CC and constant-voltage CV charging.

Estimated charging time

For a fully depleted nominal capacity of 165 Ah, the theoretical CC-stage time at 40 A is approximately 4.1 hours. Actual charging may take longer because of self-heating, temperature, BMS operation, initial state of charge, variations in charging current and the final CV stage.

40 A charging current: compatibility condition

A 40 A charging current may only be used with a battery whose manufacturer and BMS permit a 14.6 V charge termination voltage and 40 A charging current. In this finished product, the charger is matched to the built-in 165 Ah LiTime battery.

The charger may only be used with a 12.8 V nominal LiFePO₄ battery. It is not suitable for lead-acid, AGM, GEL, NMC or other battery chemistries.

Expandable 12 V system

Alongside the larger battery, KARAVAN’s main advantages are organised connectivity and mechanical expandability.

More 12 V connections

Dual automotive sockets, dual USB-C PD outputs and 50 A and 120 A Anderson connections allow organised connection of several smaller and larger 12 V loads.

Mechanical expandability

Ten built-in M8 threaded inserts support the mounting of external modules, brackets, accessories and appropriately sized inverter solutions.

A base for later system expansion

This configuration suits applications where compact portability and later, documented, technically verified expansion are both important.

A connector’s nominal rating does not by itself define the permitted circuit load

A 50 A or 120 A marking on an Anderson connector does not mean that the circuit can carry that current under all conditions. The connector, fuse, cable cross-section, connections, BMS and the load’s starting current jointly determine the permitted load.

Marine starting function

EnergonX external outputs are not intended for starting current

The LiTime battery’s starting function is intended exclusively for starting fuel-powered marine outboard engines.

It must not be used as a starting battery for a car, motorcycle, tractor, ATV, motorhome engine or any other land vehicle.

For marine starting, connect the starter cable directly to the battery’s M8 terminals. The PowerBox fuse panel, automotive sockets, USB outputs and 50 A or 120 A Anderson connectors must not be used to carry starting current.

230 V and inverter-module expansion

The EnergonX PowerBox KARAVAN [A018]-1 does not include a 230 V inverter, but it can be expanded with a suitable inverter module.

We help you select the right inverter module

The inverter’s power and design must suit the intended loads and application. Ask EnergonX for help selecting the right inverter module and integrating it into the EnergonX system.

Follow the inverter requirements when configuring the 230 V side

The inverter’s earthing, protective conductor, neutral conductor and N–PE arrangement must follow the documentation for the inverter used. Any modification or implementation must be entrusted to a suitably qualified electrician.

Outdoor, field and waterside use

The PowerBox can also be used outdoors and in field environments. The system provides the best protection when the lid is fully closed and the protective caps of unused connectors are also closed.

Detailed information on outdoor use and weather resistance

Recommended applications

Camping, fishing and boating

For powering lighting, portable coolers, communication equipment, fish finders, navigation and other suitable mobile 12 V loads.

Longer off-grid stays and field work

For situations where a lower-capacity configuration is no longer sufficient, but the system still needs to remain portable and organised.

A base for later expansion

For adding an external inverter module, mechanical accessory or custom DC connection, with a technical check of the specific expansion in every case.
