Anderson connector – 120A – red

Anderson 120A red connector

Anderson-type high-current quick connector with 120A rating, red color-keyed housing, max. 600 V DC rated voltage, silver-plated copper contacts and durable industrial construction. EnergonX PowerBox units are typically built with this red 120A connector for larger DC connections.

120A Red 600V DC
Main features
  • Connection principle: genderless, quick-connect and quick-release design
  • Color keying: only same-color, same-type pairs mate directly
  • Size: the 120A version is physically larger than the 50A version
  • EnergonX standard solution: PowerBox units are typically fitted with red 120A connectors
  • Typical cable range: approx. 16–25 mm²
  • Flexibility: later replacement or an adapter cable between different colors is possible

Recommended use: fast battery disconnect and charging • PowerBox connection • boat • motorhome • winch • solar and UPS systems

Anderson 120A red connector

Larger high-current DC connection with red mechanical keying

The Anderson 120A red connector provides a quick, safe and durable solution for connecting batteries, inverters, DC distribution units, larger mobile power systems and custom PowerBox connections.

This version is the larger Anderson size typically used by EnergonX, generally suitable for approx. 16–25 mm² cable. The red housing defines the connector keying, which means it mates directly only with another red connector of the same type. EnergonX PowerBox units are typically fitted with this red 120A connector by default.

What is it for?

For larger DC connections, PowerBox-to-battery links, charging, quick disconnect, and use in boats, motorhomes, winch systems, mobile power setups and custom electrical systems.

Why is the red color important?

The red housing is not only visual marking. It defines the keying of the mating interface, so red cannot be plugged directly into grey or other different colors.

What if another color system is involved?

In that case, later replacement or the use of an adapter cable may solve the issue. Such a cable may have a red connector on one end and, for example, a grey connector on the other.

Why is it useful?

  • Fast connection and separation, with the same housing principle on both sides.
  • The 120A version is physically larger, making it suitable for more substantial DC connections.
  • Low contact resistance thanks to silver-plated copper contacts.
  • Polarity-marked, keyed design for safer installation.
  • Durable industrial plastic housing and vibration-resistant retaining spring.

What should be known about the red color?

  • The red color defines a specific keying, so it cannot be plugged directly into grey.
  • EnergonX PowerBox units are typically built with red Anderson connectors.
  • This is an advantage when the user already operates a red-connector EnergonX system.
  • If another color device or accessory must be connected, an adapter cable can be made.
  • Such an adapter cable may have a red connector on one end and a grey connector on the other.

Installation – quick guide

  • Select a cable cross-section appropriate for the rated current.
  • Crimp the contact onto the cable using a quality crimp tool.
  • Snap the contact into the housing until it locks into place.
  • Assemble the opposite side in the same orientation and with the same housing color.
  • A fuse near the battery positive terminal and mechanical strain relief are recommended.
Important: a complete mating pair usually requires 2 sets. The connector is not waterproof, so for outdoor or splash-exposed use a protective cap or rubber boot is recommended. Different housing colors are not directly compatible; replacement or an adapter cable is required.
